A ready-made website

A client told me he liked this Wix template. A perfect chance to sell him my ready-made websites concept.

The template contains poorly written code without a proper CMS. To add any value to this design you should completely rewrite all code. And that is exactly what I did. Check out the result!

The difference between the original template and the remake? Javascript became 300(!) times smaller, HTML 80 times smaller and the fonts became 3 times smaller. The total weight of the remake (first load) is under 1 MB, while the original was close to 30 MB.

Wix Remake
Javascript    10+ MB 0.03 MB
HTML 0.97 MB 0.01 MB
Fonts 0.06 MB     0.02 MB
CSS 0.00 MB 0.01 MB

Can you imagine what this improvement does for render speeds, SEO and the user experience? And the best part is yet to come: the remake has Lenis smooth scroll and a carousel that you can drag, which the original version lacked.

When you test these two templates on a regular 4G connection, the remake shows you the content in 1.2 seconds, while the original one takes up almost a full minute. It is needless to say that after 30 seconds of loading all potential customers have left.

Visually identical webpages, but completely different code and completely different loading times. Do you feel the difference? I know Google does… I think that Wix should be prevented to ship/sell this low quality code to unknowing customers, as they are causing serious damages.
