Make your website faster
Want more business? Make your website faster. Most businesses have a slow website and lose customers because of it.
Jade Wong ran Red Bamboo, a vegan restaurant in New York, for 24 years. Billie Eilish publicly named it her favorite place to eat. Wix featured it on their homepage. Yet the business declined steadily and eventually closed. Why? Her website took 35 seconds to load on a 4G connection. By the time the menu appeared, the hungry customers had already gone elsewhere and never came back.
This is not an edge case. This is what a slow website does to a business.
Slow websites cost money
A one-second delay in page load time reduces conversions by 7%. When load time goes from 1 to 3 seconds, bounce rates increase by 32%. If your site takes 5 seconds, you have already lost half your visitors. Google knows this too. Page speed is a ranking factor, which means a slow website costs you organic traffic before a single visitor even arrives.
I rebuilt a similar Wix website as a test. The original was 30 MB and took 35 seconds to become interactive. The rebuild was under 1 MB and loaded in 1.2 seconds. Visually identical. My educated guess is that the slow website cost Red Bamboo around 50% of its potential customers. Customers who never returned and never referred anyone else. I think it might even be the reason why Red Bamboo had to close its doors.
No redesign needed
The good news: you do not have to start over. I can rebuild your website without changing the design. Same look, same feel, same content… just completely different code underneath. No front-end framework, no bloat and only 10 kilobytes of JavaScript. This will get you a website that loads instantly and scores a 100 Lighthouse score.
Speed equals growth
Websites that load in under 2 seconds rank higher in Google, convert more visitors into customers, and keep them coming back. A website that takes 5 or 10 seconds does the opposite… quietly, invisibly, every single day. That is why you need to make your website faster. In other words:
- How can I improve my Google ranking?
Make your website faster. - How can I reduce bounce rate?
Make your website faster. - Do you want more business?
