7 updates available. Again?
Never update WordPress again
I know… every update feels like a gamble. Skip them and you leave the door open. Run them and you risk breaking things. Quite a pickle.
There is a third option: take WordPress out. You keep editing it yourself, just like now: texts, photos, pages and blog posts. You will only use a CMS that is simpler and safer than WordPress. Wim Koelewijn of Sensum Finance did this. This is his site now:
It shows up in about a second and scores 100% in Google’s PageSpeed test, and Wim never has to update it, while he still edits the content himself. Park 56, a consultancy, made the same switch. By now I run over 100 websites on this system (Hugo); the portfolio shows a selection.
To be honest: you will no longer install plugins or design pages yourself. But you never have to update again, or cross your fingers that an update goes well.
A free analysis of your site
Send me your website address. Often within a few hours, and always within one working day, you get from me what it costs to make it update-free, one-off and per month. That monthly fee is generally the same as what you pay now for hosting and maintenance, or less. You are not committing to anything.
Guarantee: happy first, then pay. If you switch, you only pay for the rebuild once you are happy with your new site. Until then, your WordPress site simply stays online.
Thank you! I will get back to you within one working day.
What WordPress owners ask me first
Why should I switch?
Because right now you are not just a website owner, but also a system administrator. That second job is not necessary. Outsourcing it gives you peace of mind and certainty.
What does it cost?
A one-off fee for the rebuild, then one monthly fee for hosting, the CMS and support. The monthly fee is generally the same as what you pay now for hosting and maintenance, or less. You get both numbers often within a few hours, and always within one working day, after you send me your website address. You only pay for the rebuild once you are happy.
Why not just pay someone to run my updates?
You can. Then someone else presses the button, the plugins stay, and so does the gamble. I minimize what needs updating, and whatever is left, I do for you.
How long does it take, and what do I have to do?
That depends on the size of your site, and you hear it together with the price. I rebuild your site on a preview address. Your part is clicking through the real pages and pointing at anything you want changed, right on the page, with Annotate.now. Your WordPress site stays online, untouched, until you are happy. Then I point your domain to the new site, and I look after it for as long as you are a customer.
Can I still edit my website myself?
Yes. You change texts, photos, pages and blog posts in my own CMS for Hugo, which runs separately from your site. It only lets you change the content, so you cannot break the design by accident. You can also let AI do it. Support on the CMS is included, and your questions go to me, not to a helpdesk.
Can I still install plugins?
No, and that is the point: plugins are what needs updating. When you need something new, you tell me what it should do. You hear the price first, and I build it into your site, so it never needs an update either.
Will I lose my Google rankings?
No. Your pages keep their addresses, titles and texts, so links and search results keep working. And fast websites tend to rank better.
What about my contact form or my webshop?
Both are possible without WordPress. Contact forms are built in: messages stay on my server and show up in your CMS instead of in a mailbox full of spam. Tell me which other plugins you use and I will tell you what replaces each of them.
My site uses a theme or a page builder. Can you rebuild that?
Yes, even if it is a theme from ThemeForest or a page builder like Elementor or Divi. I rebuild the design by hand, without the page builder underneath. When I rebuilt a Wix template, the result looked identical, but weighed under 1 MB instead of almost 30 MB. You still add new pages yourself, in the layouts your site already has. If you want a new kind of layout, you ask me for it: you hear what it costs first, and your site keeps looking as polished as on day one.
What if you stop?
Then any developer who knows Hugo can take over. Hugo is open source and your website is a folder of plain files, stored in Git, that any host can serve.
Imagine the peace of mind
No more update buttons and no more crossed fingers, just a website that keeps working while you run your business, and that you still edit yourself. Send me your website address for your free analysis, and I will tell you what it takes to get there, one-off and per month.
Thank you! I will get back to you within one working day.
I often reply within a few hours, and always within one working day. Rather talk it through? Call me at +31 (0)6 185 189 28 or mail joost@usecue.com.
P.S. Happy first, then pay: you only pay for the rebuild once you are happy with your new site, and until then your WordPress site stays online, untouched. So there is no risk at all.
